Special Needs and Inclusion

At St Saviour’s School we strive to support all pupils to enable them to achieve success in all areas at school.

In order to do this many steps are taken to support them through their learning and development.
Quality teaching is vital; however for some children there are occasions when further additional support may be necessary in order to meet their individual needs.

St Saviour’s School is a very inclusive and caring environment where all pupils are given equality of access to learning and flourish. We have an Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP),The Haven, specifically for pupils that have social communication difficulties including autism, that cater for pupils from Reception to Year 6. The Haven is a distraction free environment and encompasses a dedicated sensory room. Pupils can access this environment throughout the day to support and develop their individual needs. The Haven is managed by Mrs K Lopez  who is supported by a team of keyworkers who have specialist training in autism and social communication difficulties. All places within the Haven are allocated through the Inclusion Team within the Education Department within CYPES.

Our SENCO is responsible for the Special Educational Needs Policy and co-ordinating specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN. We work closely with staff to monitor pupil’s progress and plan further interventions where progress is slower than expected. We regularly have contact with a wide range of external agencies that are able to give more specialised advice.  If you have any concerns regarding SEN matters, do not hesitate to contact us.
